UMW Alumni Site Redesign: CASE District III Award of Excellence Winner
The UMW Alumni site platform was housed with Encompass (iModules/Anthology). One of my major tasks during my time with Alumni Relations was to redesign the alumni site. Working with the iModules engineers, I designed the concept for the modernized site and served as Project Manager during the year-long project. Besides design, project tasks included research and stakeholder presentations.
The website redesign was also an opportunity to refresh the UMW Alumni branding. University Relations had designated a secondary palette for Alumni Relations to use a number of years prior to the redesign. To that point, the palette was not used in any Alumni collateral. The new site incorporated this look as well as a new tagline of “#MWForeverTrue,” pulled from the school’s alma mater. The tagline appealed to alumni from “Mary Washington College” days as well as more recent UMW grads.
The website redesign took an Award of Excellence in the 2018 Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District III award program. Image samples of the new look and teasers for the website unveiling are found below.

1908 Letters
The 1908 Society are alumni of UMW who have celebrated 50 years or better since graduation. The 1908 Letters program was a pen pal initiative between Society members and UMW Alumni Ambassadors, who were current students at the University. Students and alumni were matched each semester and corresponded via “snail mail” monthly. Students shared about life on campus while alumni filled them in on traditions, history, and campus “back in the day.” I created the concept and executed the management of the program.
